Nothing must be changed with the steering rack in Engine Position II, as long as the e34/e32 oil pan is used.  Engine Position III also can be used without modification to the steering rack, again with the e34/e32 oil pan. 

If the engine is to be installed in an extreme rearward position a modification to the steering rack mounts is needed to provide enough room. The steering rack can be moved slightly to the rear, the mounts for this relocation are already in the e30 chassis. The right side of the transmission mount will need to be slightly modified though.  The left side must be flattened and reinforced. 

Installing the e30 M3 Steering Rack
The e30 M3 came with a quicker steering rack.  A smaller input to the steering wheel produced a greater steering movement at the front wheels. This rack can easily be installed in the non-M3 e30 chassis.  A slight modification is needed to account for the slightly different geometry of the two cars' suspension.
